'Shadowhunters' Season 2 Episode 10 Spoilers: Valentine Launches Deadly Attack on Downworlders in Explosive Midseason Finale
The second season of Freeform's hit fantasy series "Shadowhunters" hits its midseason finale next week. What dangers await Clary (Katherine McNamara) and the entire Downworld populace when Valentine's (Alan Van Sprang) destructive plan gradually comes into full effect?
Valentine's plan to eliminate all Downworlders using The Soul Sword greatly depends on his daughter Clary's cooperation. The Sword's destructive hidden power can only be activated by an angel. Once lightning hits it, all Downworlders everywhere will be destroyed.
Clary has pure angel blood, and absolutely no intention of helping her father. But will she still be able to say no when Valentine puts Simon's (Alberto Rosende) life on the line?

In the official trailer for the episode, Valentine tells Clary via video call that if she does not show up within the hour, he'll give Simon the kind of death she would never wish on anyone. Clary being Clary will not be able to stay away despite everybody's advice not to give Valentine a chance to take her anywhere near The Sword.
The final scene of the trailer shows Valentine doing just that. Will Clary be dooming the entire Downworld to ruin? If and when she does activate The Sword, will there still be a chance to reverse its effect? Will the demon who is destined to destroy The Sword, as shown in the vision an angel shared to Clary and Jace, eventually come and save the day?
Titled "By the Light of Dawn," the upcoming episode will feature the Downworlders' continuous attempts to eliminate Clary. The New York Institute, which is now under Alec's (Matthew Daddario) command, will be hard-pressed in finding a solution to save their loved ones and the rest of the doomed Downworld.
The midseason finale of "Shadowhunters" is about to bring in chaos with very little hope for salvation. Who will and who will not survive the fight? Find out when episode 10 of season 2 airs on Monday, March 6, at 8 p.m. EST on Freeform.
