Shailene Woodley- 'Twilight' Relationship is 'Unhealthy, Toxic'
"Divergent" star Shailene Woodley has been in the entertainment business for quite some time now and is set to go even further with her role in the "Divergent" trilogy. People have compared her to Jennifer Lawrence of the "Hunger Games," with whom she is good friends, but one series Woodley is not fond of is "Twilight."
"'Twilight,' I'm sorry, is about a very unhealthy, toxic relationship. [The protagonist Bella] falls in love with this guy and the second he leaves her, her life is over and she's going to kill herself!" Woodley said in an interview with "Teen Vogue." "What message are we sending to young people? That is not going to help this world evolve."
Woodley is more interested in playing a strong, independent female protagonist such as Beatrice, who learns that she is different from the rest of society and decides to follow her heart and fight for her freedom. The "Divergent" series, written by Veronica Roth, has been turned into a Hollywood blockbuster series comparable to the "Hunger Games." However, Woodley almost turned down the opportunity to play Beatrice. A friend named Jennifer Lawrence helped turn her around.

"I asked Jennifer Lawrence, 'Are you happy with your choice to take on 'The Hunger Games?' And she said she wouldn't change it for the world. She told me, 'There are some things – don't make a sex tape, don't do drugs, don't do things in public – that you wouldn't want other people judging you for. But this is the best decision you'll ever make,'" Woodley said.
She then got to work on the film, which opens next week. But Woodley also has another huge project to keep her busy. She plays the lead in "The Fault in Our Stars," which is based on the best-selling book of the same name.
