In their first match in the European competition, Shakhtar lost a big match against Real Madrid when they met at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Despite Madrid being the big favourites, Shakhtar were expected to put up a fight but failed to do so as Karim Benzema scored in the 30th minute.
Then Cristiano Ronaldo had three goals in the second half to complete the route and hand Shakhtar a big loss in the competition.
They will now look to get an upset against another favourite in the group, Paris Saint-Germain.
Meanwhile, PSG hosted Malmo FF at Parc des Princes in their first match of the tournament.
Angel Di Maria started things off with a goal in the fourth minute of the match that set the pace for the match.
Edinson Cavani doubled the lead in the 61st minute in a match that PSG were never really threatened by their opponent.
Despite failing to score, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a constant threat and even supplied the assist for the Cavani goal.
Now they are looking to get a win against Shakhtar to keep their pace with Real Madrid.
