'Shameless' Season 8 Episode 1 Spoilers: Lip and Sierra Decide Next Step in Relationship

Lip (Jeremy Allen White) will deal with an influx of regrets now that he is sober in the upcoming season premiere of "Shameless."

In the episode titled "We Become What We ... Frank!," the synopsis reveals that Lip will struggle with the sudden clarity of mind that comes with abstinence. Since he has been doing his best to stay off alcohol, he now has time to reflect on his past choices and mistakes. It has been teased that the new installment would be about Lip wanting to make a difference. He plans to change his life for the better. Unfortunately, it does not look like it will involve his current partner, Sierra (Ruby Modine).

Speculations are rife that the two will have different priorities in their lives. While Sierra remains in love with Lip, she also has to think for herself and for her son. As for Lip, he just wants to finish his rehab and avoid distractions for a while. In an interview with Variety, White said that Lip would do his best to curb his addiction and become well again. He is thankful to Professor Youens (Alan Rosenberg) for his help and will try to pay him with the money he got from selling Monica's (Chloe Webb) meth.

"This year really is about Lip trying to get healthy and get a handle on his disease. School and education and his love life are taking a backseat to his sobriety. I think all of the characters at this point have all grown up so much that while in the middle of the show, they really relied on one another," said White. "Now they're all getting to the point where they have to be a healthy sort of selfish where they take care of themselves first, ahead of the others."

"Shameless" season 8 is expected to air on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 9 p.m. EDT on Showtime.
