'Shameless' Season 8 Episode 8 Spoilers: Ian Butts Heads With a Pastor
Ian (Cameron Monaghan) challenges a pastor who is converting homesexuals back into being straight people.
On the next episode of "Shameless" season 8, titled "Frank's Northern Southern Express," Ian goes one-on-one with a pastor who's trying to "pray the gay away," according to the listing on Showtime.
In episode 8's teaser, titled "Bible Quoting Contest," Ian attends one of the pastor's sessions and starts debating with him with the use of Bible quotes.
"Romans 13: 8-10 says, 'Let no debt remain outstanding except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law,'" Ian interrupts the pastor after he's shared a bible verse while praying over one of the homosexuals.
When the pastor asks for Ian's name and confirms that he's gay, he tries put him on the stage so he can "bring Jesus back" into his life. But Ian mockingly answers that he already has Jesus in his life, which starts the Bible quote wars.
After throwing Bible verses back and forth, with Ian calling the pastor a hypocrite through one of the quotes, the preacher has had enough.
"You don't actually think you can win a bible quoting contest with me?" said the pastor, but Trevor (Elliot Fletcher) answers for him and taunts him that he's Ian's "queer transgender ex-boyfriend."
Then, Ian asks the group if any of them want to leave the pastor's session and come with them to Ashland. The boy on the altar quickly says yes, and when his father orders him to come back, Ian threatens him.
"You wanna fight? I'll fight you but you're gonna get your ass kicked by a homosexual," Ian says to the man's face.
Meanwhile in episode 8, Frank (William H. Macy) will get into the illegal venture of smuggling people of color into Canada, which will keep him wealthy for the meantime. Fiona (Emmy Rossum) will consider having her own place, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) will search for new sponsors, and Debbie (Emma Kenney) will try to survive unemployment for both her and her baby.
