'Shameless' Season 8 Spoilers: Frank's Ex-Girlfriend to Return?

Frank's (William H. Macy) former love interest, Sheila Jackson (Joan Cusack), may return in one of the upcoming seasons of "Shameless."

In a recent interview with Chicago Tribune, Cusack said she might soon be returning to the Showtime series. According to the actress, she would have time to take on more roles as soon as her youngest son graduates from high school. Cusack left the show in 2015 during its fifth season. She played Sheila, a love interest for Frank, and if the character does return in the series, it will be interesting to see if they will restart their romance.

"I do feel like being a mom is hard work. A lot of times you're just making it up as you go along. You kind of look to other moms, and it's kind of like a character you have to put on and get right and do stuff," Cusack said during the Salt Lake Comic Con.

Meanwhile, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) and Sierra (Ruby Modine) will decide to take things easy in season 8. In an interview with TV Guide, Modine said that her character will be busy with other things this installment. Instead of focusing on her relationship with Lip, Sierra's storyline will mostly revolve on her personal matters, especially her son. She and the Gallagher kid, however, will remain friends.

"You're going to be able to peek behind the curtain of what Sierra's life is," Modine teased. "She's still working at Patsy's [Diner] but there are other elements that are at play this coming season...[We'll be] seeing the direction she's choosing to go in to better her son's life."

Elsewhere, spoilers reveal that out of Frank's children, Ian (Cameron Monaghan) will struggle the most following Monica's (Chloe Webb) death. Although they had a lot of disagreements, Ian was actually very close to his mother. They could relate to each other well, considering they both have bipolar personalities.

"Shameless" season 8 is expected to air on Nov. 5 at 9 p.m. EDT on Showtime.
