'Sherlock' Season 4 Release Date, Plot and Spoilers: Toby Jones to be the Purest Evil Villain
"Sherlock" Season 4 will be returning by 2017. Although there have been few information on the upcoming season, there are already some reports about the new villain which will be portrayed by Toby Jones.
In an interview with Benedict Cumberbatch and "Sherlock" showrunners Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, they speak about the new villain to appear in the fourth season. Toby Jones will play a villain who has not been named yet and his character is said to shape up the upcoming season which is considered to be the darkest one.
The New Villain
Moffat stated that Toby Jones' character is completely different from other villains. He added that the character will be the darkest villain whom the series will have and Sherlock is completely appalled by him. Moffat further stated that Jones' character is the most horrific and anyone could agree with it.
In the same interview, Gatiss also mentioned that the series has made Moriarty different from Doyle. He also reported that Toby Jones is different and doing something interesting. The character has terrible teeth to symbolize the rot within him and has a really complex and shaded character.
With the fourth season coming up, there are three main villains who have been named and those would be Thatcher, Smith and Sherrinford. From these three clues, it can be that Jones will play Smith as depicted in Arthur Conan Doyle's original "Sherlock Homes" story.
"The Adventure of the Dying Detective" was the story where Culverton Smith was introduced. In the original story, Smith sends a poisoned ivory box to Sherlock resulting to the latter pretending to be nearly dying. Sherlock then orders Watson to send Smith over. Smith then arrives and confesses that he also killed his own nephew with the poison. This time, Sherlock gets up from the bed and Smith is arrested.
From The Original Story
This has been the original and old storyline and it is worth looking forward on how the situation will be created in the series.
Moffat expressed his appreciation to Toby once and has stated that the production is excited to welcome the new villain on set.
It has been reported that the twist in the story will happen during the second marriage of Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman). This is also one hint that Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington) is still alive and will be back on the second episode of the fourth season.
With the new character setting to come out in Season 4, it is one of the reasons why "Sherlock" is worth the wait.
"Sherlock" Season 4 will premiere in January 2017.
