Yamai also touched briefly on why the Nintendo Switch was chosen as the platform for the upcoming game

One of the things Yamai talked about during the interview is the central theme that will be the focus of the upcoming game.

After talking about the themes featured in earlier "Shin Megami Tensei" games, Yamai then revealed that the next entry in the series is going to shine a light on the problems the residents of this world are facing today. Subjects like unemployment, terrorism and even nuclear weapons will be explored by the game.

The previously released announcement trailer certainly reinforces that modern theme.

The apparent intent here for Yamai and the other developers is to create a game that people can connect to because it is focusing on the same things they are thinking and chatting about currently.

During the interview, Yamai also revealed that "Shin Megami Tensei V" will again include demon fusions while also teasing that new features are going to be introduced too.

Yamai also spoke of featuring "hybrid gameplay" that blends together the strengths of the earlier home console offerings as well as the ones available on handhelds.

One more thing Yamai expanded upon is the reason for why the Nintendo Switch was chosen as the platform for the game. Yamai highlighted the unique features of the Switch and added that the platform could allow players to go through the important parts of the game while playing on the TV, and then they could just continue in portable mode if they are just going to grind for stuff.

No release window has been announced just yet for "Shin Megami Tensei V," though fans should be able to hear more about the game soon.
