'Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom' Combines RPG and Fighting Game Elements; Title Could Launch in Early March
Role-playing games (RPGs) are given the painstaking task of always innovating to cater to the ever-changing needs of the gaming community. This is something that Indie studio Enigami is taking to heart, thus making "Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom" unique in its own right.
In the latest overview trailer for the game, a typical plot is presented, in which Chado — along with his four unlikely comrades — must fight in order to restore peace to the land. What it differs in, however, is the fighting mechanics that merges RPG flair with fighting game mechanisms.
The player controls a selected character and does one-on-one combat against an enemy, employing attacks, parries and techniques to gain the upper hand, almost similar to some noteworthy games like "Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4." What makes it unique though is how the player must gather parchments to gain new skills and attributes, which is where the open-world RPG feel comes into picture.

The game also employs classic rock-paper-scissors mechanism by the use of elemental magic known as the "Shi." Each character will have corresponding affinities to every Shi, making one hero different from another, rendering the gameplay even more intricate.
Dungeon-crawling and puzzle-solving are also integral parts of the game. Each character possesses different skills they can use in the field, like Kayenne's telekinesis and Poky's electromagnetic field manipulation. By mastering their various roles, one can explore further the vast world of Shiness.
No specific date has been mentioned as to when "Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom" arrives, although the developers may have dropped a few hints. In the game's official website, it states that it will be launched within a few weeks. Over at Steam, it says the game is expected within Q1 2017, thus there's a reason to believe it may be coming in early March. This, of course, is speculation, and fans will have to wait and see.
