'Silicon Valley' Season 3 News, Spoilers: Showrunners Talk Season 3 Cameos, Upcoming 'Graphic Sex Scene'
HBO's Emmy-winning comedy series "Silicon Valley" aired its season 3 premiere on Sunday, April 24, picking up right where it left off at the end of the second season.
After having been demoted by Raviga, an angered and humbled Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch) took some sound advice from Pete Monahan (Matt McCoy) and reluctantly accepted that maybe he doesn't have what it takes to lead a steadily growing tech company. In the season 3 premiere, Richard also realized that working on a celebrity mustache hologram app wasn't for him. He also began to see his replacement, Jack Barker (Stephen Tobolowsky), as more of a partner than an opponent.
Apart from character developments the show's protagonist and his friends will be going through this season, "Silicon Valley" showrunners and executive producers Alec Berg and Mike Judge also revealed some juicy details for fans to look forward to in season 3. According to the "Silicon Valley" bosses, they shot the show's first graphic sex scene for the new season.
"We will have explicit, graphic sex in the show," Judge told Entertainment Weekly.
"Richard will be involved in a scene in which there is graphic intercourse," Berg added. "Technically, it's involving Richard and another man. …It's extreme. You'll be tempted to look away, but those who watch every frame will be rewarded."
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Berg also dished about the upcoming cameos in the new season. According to the "Silicon Valley" boss, former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, who used to work as a consultant for the show, will play himself in season 3. Zynga founder Mark Pincus and Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman will also be on "Silicon Valley" in the current season.
As for whether or not "Silicon Valley" fans can expect SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to appear in the new season, Berg said: "I'd love to have him on the show, but I don't think that Elon Musk spends an enormous portion of his day thinking about our show. He's trying to go to Mars."
"Silicon Valley" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
