'Skyrim' Switch News: File Size for Soon-to-be Released Game Now Known

Switch edition of 'Skyrim' will be released on Nov. 17

Next month will feature the launch of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" on the Nintendo Switch. But before console owners get too excited, they may have to make some preparations first.

As fans may have already guessed, the open-world role-playing game is going to take up quite a bit of space and the specific figure has now been discovered.

Spotted by NintendoEverything, the fantasy epic is expected to take up 14.3GB of space, according to a listing on the European Switch eShop.

The good news for gamers is that the new version of "Skyrim" is not too big, especially compared to other high-profile games that made their debuts on the Switch recently.

Still, as Gamezone pointed out, the limited amount of space that the Switch provides may prove insufficient if gamers want to keep other titles present on the console. If that is the case, Switch owners may then need to purchase an SD card so that the RPG can be accommodated.

Once the latest mainline installment in "The Elder Scrolls" franchise hits the Switch, fans can expect it to arrive with all the features that made previous editions so successful.

Beyond that, Switch owners can also look forward to having access to some extra features exclusive to the platform.

Per the game's official website, players can tap a compatible "Legend of Zelda" amiibo to unlock some special items in the game. To be more specific, players can acquire the Champion's Tunic, Hylian Shield and the Master Sword by tapping compatible "Legend of Zelda" amiibo figures.

Players can also use other amiibo figures to obtain some loot that should make going through the game a little easier.

New motion controls are also featured in the Switch version of the RPG, enabling players to carry out a variety of tasks within the in-game world in different ways.

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" will land on the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 17.
