'Skyrim VR' News: Will Arrive to PC Next Month
Gaming giant Bethesda has announced that "Skyrim VR" will be arriving to PC, through SteamVR, in April.
According to Bethesda's official website, PC owners should expect "Skyrim VR" to arrive in April. The upcoming title will feature the complete "Skyrim" experience, including all official add-ons: Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. Of course, the one major change is the fact that players will be able to experience these stories and questlines from a new, more up-close perspective.
It really should not come as much of a surprise given how both "DOOM VFR" and "Fallout 4 VR" are both available on Steam, it was only a matter of time before Bethesda ported over the "Skyrim" virtual reality (VR) experience as well.
"In Skyrim VR, battling cursed Draugr, exploring rugged mountainsides and hunting fearsome, ancient dragons is more immersive than ever, aided by a made-for-VR control scheme that allows players to move, hack and slash at foes, and cast powerful magic with real-life movements," Bethesda writes.
The Steam page for "Skyrim VR" is already up and running, and those interested can pre-order the title for $60. According to the official Steam descriptions, the new VR title will be compatible with both HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, which makes it the first Bethesda VR game to support the Oculus.
"Skyrim VR" was first announced in June 2017, during Bethesda's press conference at that year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and was then released later in November. It was initially launched as a PlayStation VR exclusive.
It maintains a respectable 77 percent rating on Metacritic, which is pretty good for a VR game exclusive to Sony's headset.
Be it newcomer or seasoned warrior, "Skyrim VR" seems to offer a new experience and journey while retreading old ground. If they have the hardware to support it, it may be worth traveling through the snowy mountains once again.
