'Sleepy Hollow' Season 2: Fox Series Renewed Already Despite Season 1 Premiere Only Recently Airing
New Fox show "Sleepy Hollow" is off to a great start. The show, based on the Washington Irving classic short story, premiered on Sept. 16, and, in an early move, Fox has just announced they will be renewing the show for a second season. There are expected to be 13 episodes in the second season of "Sleepy Hollow." And the second season will most likely hit the air in the 2014-15 season.
Kevin Reilly, Fox entertainment chairman, made a statement about renewing the show.
"The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking. It's a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast. I can't wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into Season 2," Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter.
The series premiere earned high ratings, with 13.6 million veiwers tuning in. With so many early fans amassed, it's no wonder Twitter was buzzing with excitement at the news of a second season being ordered.
Twitter user Marisa Roffman wrote, "So, so, so happy to get more #SleepyHollow AND that they're being smart and keeping it in smaller seasons."
Other Twiter users echoed Roffman's excitement at the early renewal, as Jarett Wieselman wrote, "#SleepyHollow renewed for season two, aHEAD of all other new shows!"
The show has an all star cast, including Tom Mison, Orlando Jones, and Nicole Beharie.
The next episode of "Sleepy Hollow" air tonight, Oct. 4 on Fox at 9/8c.
