'Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3' Release Date, News: Is the Delay a Good Thing?
CI Games' first-person tactical shooter platform "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3" is arguably one of the most anticipated titles in its genre to be released this year. Unfortunately, though, its launch date has been pushed back, promising to make the game even better.
In a statement written on the game's official website, CI Games' CEO Marek Tyminski said, "We've worked tirelessly creating a whole new Sniper Ghost Warrior experience set in an ambitiously crafted open world new to the series. While it's an unfortunate decision to delay the game one last time, we believe these final changes will result in a better experience for players worldwide on day one."
When Tyminski mentioned better experience, he is obviously referring to the feedback the team has gathered during the open beta for Steam players held last Feb. 3 to 5. The purpose of the beta, aside from letting a few selected participants play the game and spread the word, is to see if there are any last-minute fixes that the developers can do before it officially releases.
In line with that purpose, the delay could possibly be a good thing for all the players who are interested in buying the game. This ensures that the title puts its best foot forward when it gets distributed worldwide, putting the players' satisfaction first.
Perhaps another reason why moving the release date is a good thing is because it can be deemed a strategic move. A similarly themed game from Ubisoft Entertainment, "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands," just got released last March 7, and one can assume that a large audience has looked forward to it given the record-breaking beta it had. This creates a safer distance, making it more likely players will have moved on to a new title, and hopefully that will be "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3."
"Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3" is slated for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms on April 25, 2017.
