Snooki Blasted for Falling While Pregnant, Critics Blame High Heels

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, who is currently six months pregnant, has received widespread backlash after she recently tripped and fell in public while wearing exceptionally high platform wedge shoes.

The "Jersey Shore" star was photographed walking to a store in New Jersey on Thursday before she fell to her knees and quickly sprung back up before laughing off the entire incident, according to Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old, who is expecting her first child with fiancé Jionni LaValle, appeared to be unharmed but outraged readers of the Daily Mail immediately voiced their concerns via the comments section, with many accusing Snooki of compromising the safety of her unborn child for fashion.

"What dumb shoes to be wearing when expecting," Sarah said.

"For god sake when will these pregnant women realize there putting there unborn baby at risk wearing these ridiculous heels," one reader with the username Kasey wrote.

"I personally wouldn't take such risks with my unborn baby, it just isn't worth it and I couldn't live with the guilt if God forbid anything did happen," another reader with the username LIBERTY explained.

Celebrity maternity fashion has sparked recent debates about the appropriate nature of wearing high heels while pregnant.

A growing number of celebrities including Beyonce Knowles, Victoria Beckham and Kourtney Kardashian- who recently came close to falling while dressed in super high heels- have made it a growing trend for women to wear towering heels even during the late stages of pregnancy. Some critics believe the practice is an unnecessary safety hazard.

"I'm probably going to deliver my baby in these [heels]," singer Jessica Simpson once joked while speaking with Us Weekly Magazine about the growing criticisms of her maternity footwear.

Snooki is reportedly due to give birth to a baby boy in September and revealed that she and LaValle have already chosen a name.

"I think we're going to do 'Lorenzo' because then you can call him 'Enzo,'" Snooki said during an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America." She added that when they couple has a girl, she will likely be named "Giada."
