"Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice" Review, Gameplay
Sony has been rolling out various Sonic the Hedgehog titles in the past that have caused disappointments among fans of the franchise. According to Gaming Bolt, some of these titles include "Sonic: Lost World" for the Wii U, PC and 3DS in 2013 and "Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric" which was exclusive for the Wii U in 2014. Sega also released "Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal" for the 3DS in 2014, which disappointed the fans as well.
However, "Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice" has turned back fans with a good gameplay fun that actually sees Sonic go ultra-fast again. The game does not contain binary designs that can often be seen in previous games like the "Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal".
Instead of it having a simplistic plot line and slow development, Sega comes back with "Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice" as a 2D platformer game that gives players the challenging task of looking for hidden collectibles. According to IGN, some parts of the game looks for quick reaction especially when it comes to using the fire and ice power.
The outlet notes that the minor bosses in "Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice" are generic and forgettable and the music may not be for everyone's tastes. The game cut scenes can be skipped also.
Overall, Sonic and his friends all have different powers that can be utilized to find gems and other collectibles. The fire and ice powers also help them get through several obstacles in the game.
