'Sonic Forces' Gets New Trailer to Usher Launch

The latest installment from the Sonic the Hedgehog series is out this week, and Sega made sure it received a fitting launching by releasing a new trailer.

The launch trailer for "Sonic Forces" is filled with action-packed scenes featuring actual gameplay, as well as the different modes the game offers. Perhaps the main highlight of the trailer is the part focusing on the "create your custom character" feature. The feature allows gamers to make their own avatars who will help Sonic beat Dr. Eggman and stop his attempt to conquer the world.

Dual Shockers reported that feature is also available on the Tag ability, where players can tag different characters in and out of the match to come up with various combos. Moreover, there is also the Hero Character options that player can access, which include the "Rental Avatar." The feature allows gamers to access characters created by other players from across the globe.

In other Sonic news, "Sonic Mania" has reportedly boosted the sales of Sega for the third quarter of the year. According to Comicbook.com, the side-scrolling platform game helped Sega reach net sales close to 194.7 billion yen, which is a 14.9 percent increase from the same period in 2016. Though the game was only released in August, it was able to contribute strongly in terms of physical sales.

"In the packaged game software field, sales amounted to 8,650 thousand copies (4,650 thousand copies for the same period in the previous fiscal year) thanks to the strength of the new title Sonic Mania, which earned the highest Metascore in the new titles of the Sonic series released in the past 15 years," said Sega in its quarterly financial statement report.

With the game's strong showing, it will be interesting to see how "Sonic Forces" will fare in the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
