Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact PS4 News: Sony Explains Remote Play Feature
Sony has provided more details about how the PlayStation Remote Play feature in its new Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact works. The feature allows PS4 players to continue their games on their phones.
In a post at the PlayStation Blog, Sony Mobile Communications Engineer Fred Gunther revealed how the feature works and how to set it up correctly. Gunther says the feature is best paired with a DualShock 4 controller; otherwise, players can use the onscreen controls on their phones.
To set up the PS4 Remote Play feature on the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact, owners must first ensure both the phone and the console are connected to the same local WiFi. Then, they must download the PS4 Remote Play app on their phones. They must also go to the Remote Play Connection Settings on their PS4, select "Add Device," and take note of the code that they might need later on to connect the two devices.

Sony provides two ways users can connect their Xperia phones and PS4. One way is to launch the PS4 Remote Play app on their phones and tap "Register." A set of instructions will appear that they should follow, tap "Next," and wait for the devices to establish a connection. If the connection doesn't happen automatically, Sony suggests users to tap "Skip" and manually input the code they got earlier from their PS4.
Once the two devices are connected, owners can now play on their Xperia phones anywhere within the reach of their local WiFi network. This means players can continue their PS4 games from their kitchen or in the living room.
The new Sony Xperia phones feature autofocus cameras, water- and dust-proof certifications, and hi-res audio. While the Z5 is sustained by a 2,900mAh battery and the Z5 Compact by a 2,700mAh battery, both run Android 5.1 and use Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 under the hood.
The Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact were recently launched in the United States. Those interested can buy them from major retailers in the country like Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H.
