Sony PlayStation New Releases: 'Klaus,' 'Fenix Furia,' 'Volume'

Three video game developers announced the release of their new games for Sony's PlayStation: "Volume" for the PS Vita, and "Fenix Furia" and "Klaus" for PlayStation 4.

"Volume" now available for PS Vita

This portable version of "Volume" has all the contents of the PS4 version, according to the game's designer, Mike Bithell. This means PS Vita players will get to play all 100 levels, including curated Staff Picks and uploaded levels created by the community. The more creative players can design their own level, too, with the game's level editor.

The title is a cross buy, which means those who have both the PS4 and PS Vita only need to buy the game once and it will be available to play on both consoles. The studio also offers "Volume: Coda" as a free expansion for the PlayStation VR when it becomes available. "Volume: Coda" is described as an expansion campaign set in a VR environment featuring a new story and new characters.

"Klaus" arrives on Jan. 19 on PS4

Taking inspiration from classics like "Megaman" and "Super Meat Boy," "Klaus" is a precision-based puzzle platformer featuring pop art geometry and high-contrast worlds. Players will control Klaus who is lost and knows nothing of who he is, where he is, and why he's there. In the game, Klaus will be accompanied by a friendly brute named K1.

"Klaus" will run for six to eight hours of gameplay and have two endings. There's also an arcade mode where players can do speed running. As for rewards, there will be 40 trophies and an extra one for platinum.

The game was among the many titles playable during Sony's PlayStation Experience last month. And from feedback gathered from players during that time, the developer has improved the game on primarily three aspects: the overall look and feel of the game, three boss battles, and collectible levels and their corresponding rewards. The collectibles work by unlocking a memory, but Klaus needs to collect six collectible items before he regains his memory.

"Klaus" for PS4 will be sold at $20 starting Jan. 19.

"Klaus" will be available for PS Vita players later. The game's designer, Victor Velasco, mentioned that although they don't have a firm date, the PS Vita version will release "closer to the end of the year."

"Fenix Furia" coming "soon" on PS4

"Fenix Rage" is coming to the PS4 as "Fenix Furia." Developer Green Lava Studios says the name change "captures the powerful dynamics of the new features that this version of the game will have." But those following the game and the company will remember that back in November, Green Lava faced difficulty in registering the video game title. A "huge game company" trademarked "RAGE" in Costa Rica so that Green Lava resorted to changing the title for PS4 and Xbox One, but the original name will be used for Steam.

Despite the name change, "Fenix Furia" will still be be the rage-inducing addictive game that PC gamers fell in love with and more. The PS4 version will feature retuned and redesigned levels, an easy mode, and a two player mode. The multiplayer mode allows players to play either as Fenix or Undead Fenix, which is a new character for this mode.

Green Lava Studios has not detailed a set release date or window for the game, just that "Fenix Furia" will be coming to PS4 "soon."
