Sony Xperia M5 Release Date, Specs News: Meet Newest Semi-Flagship From Sony
The market is getting crowded in the midrange niche, and Android fans are buying but more affordable handsets with decent specs from Chinese manufacturers.
So what can the major players like Sony do?
In an event yesterday, the Japanese company once again proved that it can put powerful specs in compact packages, such as the Xperia M5.
According to a report by Phone Arena, the Sony Xperia M5 is a midranger that has a few flagship-level specs.
In the report, the device boasts a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 3GB RAM, a 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 chipset, an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz, and 16GB of built-in memory.
The Xperia M5 also comes with a microSD card slot for storage expansion, Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box topped by Sony's Xperia UI, and a rather small 2,600mAh battery.
However, the main highlight of the device is in the camera department. The phone boasts a whopping 21.5MP primary camera that can shoot images at only a quarter of a second or 250 milliseconds.
In addition, the rear snapper packs an f/2.2 aperture, and a maximum light sensitivity of ISO 3200. In front is a 13MP selfie shooter that can record 1080p videos and has autofocus.
Like other higher-tier Sony devices, the Xperia M5 is both dust and waterproof, another plus for Android users who love going outdoors.
Unfortunately, pricing and availability details have not yet been revealed at the moment.
