Sony Xperia XZ Premium Release Date: Amazon UK Pre-Order Points to June Availability

Sony recently debuted its newest lineup of Xperia smartphones and managed to sweep a whole slew of honors from various award-giving bodies, including the "Best New Smartphone" award for the Xperia XZ Premium at the Mobile World Congress in February. And while Sony did not announce a release date along with the XZ Premium, a new report claims that it will be in June.

According to Android Community, the Xperia XZ Premium was spotted for pre-order on Amazon UK for £649.00 (roughly $793). The smartphone will apparently be available on June 1, which means technology enthusiasts have more than three months of deciding time.

The Xperia XZ Premium is certainly worth considering, though. It features a 5.5-inch 4K display with HDR support and Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, the smartphone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and is powered by a 3,230 mAh battery. It comes with the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, as well as 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage.

It also has an IP68 certification rating when it comes to water and dust proofing.

In terms of its camera, it boasts a 19 MP main shooter and a whopping 13 MP front-facing snapper. The most impressive part of its camera, though, is its 960 fps slow motion video capability. Apart from that, there is also an anti-distortion shutter.

There is no news yet on when the Xperia XZ Premium will arrive in the United States. The only U.S. release dates currently known are for Sony's other Xperia models, the Xperia XZs and the Xperia XA1. The Xperia XZs will be released on April 5 for $699, while the Xperia XA1 will be released on April 26 for $299. Another Sony Xperia variant, the Xperia XA1 Ultra, is also expected in U.S. stores.

All Xperia smartphones will likely retail unlocked, which means they will not be offered as part of any carrier partnerships. However, readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt.
