Sony Xperia Z6 Release Date Rumors: Sony to Take It Slow on New Flagship
In what multiple tech outlets call a "good move" by Sony, it seems the tech company is now taking the advice of many consumers and other tech giants that it needs to slow down in terms of releasing its smartphones.
For some years, Sony has been launching its Xperia Z phones in a matter of six months, and according to several outlets, it has not helped the company financially since the series gets outdated in just a few months, giving buyers not enough time to enjoy their gadgets and allowing for loss of interest in the lineup.
In an interview during the IFA 2015 in Berlin, Sony's Art Director Rikke Gertsen Constein indirectly said there won't be any smartphones from the company for the first half of 2016. She only mentioned that they are in the works to release new phones for the second half of 2016, 2017, and 2018, which is a new strategy that the company has seemingly adopted from other tech giants such as Apple.
While it is unclear if Sony is planning for an early 2016 surprise, many outlets and buyers have already speculated what the Xperia Z6 may offer.
According to Android Pit, the new smartphone will surely launch with the OmniBalance design that its predecessors are known for. The outlet noted, though, that this move might place the company at the same position that Samsung is at now, wherein critics continue to point at the high-end phones from the Korean company that share almost the same features.
The outlet further predicted that the Z6 may sport the Snapdragon 820 and probably the same 1080p display that the Z5 has. On the other hand, Sony might also opt for a change and decide to launch the flagship with a UHD display.
Meanwhile, a report by SonyZ6Xperia suggested that the upcoming phone will most certainly boast a more improved camera, better battery-saving capacity, and tighter security features.
