Sony Xperia Z6 Rumors: To Have Five Variants, Debut Expected at CES 2016

Sony is creating some noise via headline news as reports say that the Japanese electronics company is released not just one, but five variants of their 2016 flagship. According to Stuff, the company could be gearing up to launch five Xperia Z6 flagships.

Reports about it started surfacing after AnTuTu revealed via their official Weibo page that Sony is working on the next-generation Xperia Z6, Z6 Mini, Z6 Compact, Z6 Plus, and Z6 Ultra. If the rumor is true, these devices with different screen sizes may arrive next year already.

Tech Times detailed that Sony is planning to develop its presence in the smartphone world in 2016. They will start off by officially announcing its next-generation Xperia Z6 series via a press event which is slated to happen on Jan. 5, 2016, alongside the CES in Las Vegas. However, other reports point that the reveal will happen during MWC in Barcelona.

Included in the reveal by AnTuTu are the display sizes and the type of processors that each handset will carry. The smallest variant is the Xperia Z6 Mini which will sport a 4-inch display. It will be the only one to feature a Snapdragon 620 CPU.

On the other hand, the Z6 Compact will feature a 4.6-inch display while the Z6 will have a 5.2-inch screen and the Z6 Plus will sport a 5.8-inch display. The biggest is the Xperia Z6 Ultra which will sport mini tablet proportions and have a 6.4-inch display. All of them will be equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

There are no photos available yet for the said devices but they are highly expected to be made with premium materials just like its predecessors. Other specs have not been revealed as well but Sony's Cyber-shot and Handycam technologies are most likely to be featured. GSM Arena also noted that the Xperia Z6 and Z6 Plus will come with a form of pressure-sensitive display.
