Sophie Simmons 'X-Factor' Feud Cut Short by Modesty (VIDEO)
Gene Simmons Daugher Quells Feud With Humility
The "X-Factor" received a surprise audition on Wednesday when Sophie Simmons, the daughter of Kiss guitar player Gene Simmons, gave her rendition of an Adele hit. But not everyone was rooting for her success, it appeared.
Simons sang "To Make You Feel My Love," and while she did not exactly wow the judges, she had a "special quality" to her voice that persuaded three of the judges to say yes. L.A. Reid decided to pass, but Britney Spears and Demi Lovato both agreed with Simon Cowell that a little training could go a long way.
Backstage, however, it appeared that some of the contestants were less impressed. Tara Simon, a vocal coach from Atlanta who competed immediately afterwards, suggested to another contestant that Simmons was only pushed through because of her rock star father.
She asked the contestant if she really thought Simmons would have gone through if it hadn't been for her family, to which the contestant responded "probably not." After Tara performed, she too was given the okay to L.A., which could preclude drama between the two girls in following episodes.
But Simmons said on Twitter, after watching the episode, that poor editing had portrayed Tara in a bad light and she didn't appear to hold any grudges.
"i dont think @tarasimonsings meant what she said on @XFactorUSA editing can be weird sometimes," she tweeted.
Tara accepted the open door offer and responded to Simmons with much kinder words.
"Girl, they spliced my convo with that girl together and totally twisted what I said. Such crap. Love you girl, youre great!" she tweeted. "They painted me in a very poor light. I am not like that. And am still friends with Sophie today."
For the daughter of a famous guitar player, Simmons couldn't have been more humble.
