'SoulCalibur' News: Developer Wants to Know Who Your Favorite Character Is

Project Soul, the in-house developer team in Bandai Namco of the "SoulCalibur" series, wants to find out from the game's fans who their favorite "SoulCalibur" character is. This is apparently related to "a big announcement" that the developer will be making soon.

In a Facebook post on the "Soulcalibur" timeline, it said: "Calling all SoulCalibur Fans! Project Soul would like to hear your voice. They need to determine precisely who are the favorite characters of the community! Project Soul is probably preparing something huge … Stay tuned and spread the news!"

Included in the survey are the 45 characters that appeared throughout the series. As of reporting time, a total of 2,800 votes have been cast. Fans who would like cast their votes can do so until May 31, through the following links: for PC, go to http://bnent.eu/SCSurvey and for mobile devices, go to http://bnent.eu/SCSurveyMobile. Fans only get one chance to vote, so they are advised to vote wisely. The choice will be dependent on not just the look of the character but more on the character's weapon, which is what matters in the game.

"SoulCalibur" is a weapon-based 3D fighting game developed by Project Soul for Bandai Namco which was originally released for arcades in 1998 running on the Namco System 12 hardware. It was later on ported to the Sega Dreamcast. The U.S. version was released in September 1999 also on the Dreamcast. In 2008, it became available as a downloadable title on Xbox 360's Live Marketplace.

Players get to play their characters who are part of a group of warriors on a mission to stop the evil Soul Edge, a cursed blade and its host, Nightmare and his minions who slaughter and claim souls to strengthen Soul Edge.

The game is the second game in the "Soul" series, the first one being "Soul Edge." The biggest innovations introduced in the game is what is called "the eight-way run." Previous 3D fighters had only limited movement along the third axis, with sidesteps and rolls providing useful but unsustained lateral movement. In "SoulCalibur," holding down a joystick direction makes the character run in that direction.
