'Spectre' has death-defying action sequences with expensive Aston Martins being blown up

The latest in the James Bond franchise, "Spectre" has raised the bar where action sequences are concerned. Along with high-speed car chases, crazy helicopter maneouvers over cities and thrilling action in snow-bound areas, £24 million-worth of Aston Martin DB10 sports cars were blown up for the "Spectre," according to CinemaBlend.

EON Productions, MGM, and Sony Pictures have released a behind-the-scenes video with commentary by director Sam Mendes. This video gives fans a sneak peek into the mind-blowing action in store for them. It is clear that Mendes has gone all out with action in this film.

10 Aston Martin DB10s were specially created for "Spectre." They were outfitted with the usual but with a bonus - the famous ejector seat. The Daily Mail says there was a car chase scene set in Italy that went through the Vatican, the Colosseum and the River Tiber where seven Aston Martins were blown-up and/or destroyed. Three cars survived.

As stated in the same Daily Mail article, stunt coordinator Gary Powell spoke to Event magazine while production of the movie was on. He told them, "We set the record for smashing up cars on Spectre. In Rome, we wrecked millions of pounds worth. They were going into the Vatican at top speeds of 110 mph. We shot one entire night for four seconds of film."

The video also has an action sequence that has a large airplane sliding down a snow-covered mountain, then goes through the top of a building and explodes on the other side.

According to Collider, the official synopsis for "Spectre" is as follows: "In SPECTRE, a cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE."

To fight this notorious organization, 'SPECTRE', James Bond will be involved in death defying stunts in historic Rome, snowy Austria and hot Mexico City.

"Spectre" starring Daniel Craig as James Bond comes to the theatres in November.
