'Spectre' news, cast, spoilers: Daniel Craig pressured himself most on last James Bond film
Daniel Craig has certainly succeeded in being an on-screen James Bond. Despite the different take on the character, many fans have embraced his performance. However, it seems that unlike the previous James Bond stars, Craig chose to be more than just the face, but also be one of the brains behind the movie.
Craig admitted recently to have been heavily involved in the scriptwriting process for the Bond films. With that said, the challenge to surpass expectations resulted to tremendous pressure. This pressure was certainly felt by Craig, as well as by director Sam Mendes, which was quite obvious during the filming of 2012's "Skyfall."
Craig revealed to Empire magazine, "Sam... was up against it. It didn't show. That's the great thing. The movie was great. Quantum was what it was. I said, 'We have to get Skyfall right.' I felt a massive amount of pressure. Instinctively, I felt that if we pushed each other we'd get something," He also added, "I felt the need to push Sam probably harder than I should, and he kicked back and pushed me and we've done the same on this [new movie Spectre]. We just push each other. We blew up at each other a couple of times."
With that, it can be assumed that the pressure is on again with the latest movie, "Spectre." Mendes shares it wasn't all smooth sailing for the film's shooting, "It always felt like it led to something better, and that we needed to let off steam. You get cranky. God knows, there's been difficult s**t on this movie [Spectre]. Every single person has either been injured or ill. People have been off who've never been off in their lives before." With such creative minds clashing every now and then, it can be quite difficult, but at the end of the day, both Craig and Mendes seem to be after the same thing, which is to make the movie better.
As for fans who worry that "Spectre" may be Craig's last Bond film, he assured everyone that he is slated to star in at least one more.
"Spectre" opens in the United Kingdom on Oct. 26, 2015 and in the United States on Nov. 6.
