'Speechless' Season 1 Episode 18 Spoilers: The DiMeos Go to the Market, Trouble Ensues
Now that Jimmy (John Ross Bowie) and Kenneth (Cedric Yarbrough) have both agreed to disagree, and Ray (Mason Cook) finally understands that his older brother JJ (Micah Fowler) can and will protect him, what's coming next for the DiMeo household?
The upcoming episode 18 of the first season of "Speechless" will show the DiMeo patriarch, Jimmy, sharing a moment with his daughter Dylan (Kyla Kenedy) as they search for something in the back room at the local supermarket. While father and daughter are up to their own antics, JJ will be teaching a rude customer a lesson on how to treat people right.
The previous episode showed that the DiMeo's wheelchair-bound oldest son was more than capable of doing a good deed for random strangers while showing a bully what he's made of. It will be interesting to see how he will be cutting a rude customer down to size.

Promotional images for the next episode also show Maya (Minnie Driver) driving the family to the supermarket, wherein she would end up dinging a nearby car. It is not clear whether they will be confronted by the owner, but the synopsis does say that Ray will be taking sides against his family by leaving a note behind his mother's back. What conflict will this bring to the family dynamics? And what will drive Ray to do something that's against his own mother's decision?
On the other hand, JJ's dutiful aide, Kenneth, has been moonlighting somewhere else and struggles to hide his side job from the DiMeos. How long can he possibly keep this matter a secret from a family that he interacts with every day?
The ABC sitcom that premiered on Sept. 29 last year was first picked up for a full 22-episode season, but will now be ending with 23-episode season after a follow-up order for one more episode was announced before 2016 ended. No official season 2 renewal has been announced yet.
