Spice Girls reunion: Geri Halliwell confirms there 'have been talks'

Former Spice Girls member Geri Halliwell has confirmed that there "have been talks" about the band getting back together again for its 20th anniversary. In 2016, it will be 20 years since the all-girl band gained immense popularity with their hit single "Wannabe."

Last month, the British tabloid The Sun had published a report claiming that the group planned to reunite to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut single, "Wannabe." The Sun claimed that Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C would together go on an epic world tour in 2016 without Victoria Beckham.

The last performance by the Spice Girls with all the team members, including Beckham, was at the 2012 London Olympics, where the band had belted out a string of hits, such as "Wannabe" and "Spice Up Your Life."

Appearing on "This Morning" this Tuesday, Halliwell was asked by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to confirm rumors of the band once again preparing to get back together. Halliwell did not confirm the band's actual reunion, but confessed that the possibility of the girls getting back together had been discussed.

Halliwell told Schofield and Willoughby on the show: "It's one of those things that's been discussed, but until it's concrete I wouldn't announce it. I think it would be nice to celebrate it in some way. I can say that there's been talks! I think that's fair and honest."

Halliwell also suggested that she was open to a reunion, which unfortunately, would not include Beckham, who - according to The Sun - is too busy to support the group, although the reunion has her blessings.

Halliwell also thanked fans for all their support, saying: "I think it's really flattering that people are still so supportive of the Spice Girls individually and collectively, that's beautiful, it's really nice. It almost feels you know that it (the Spice Girls) belongs to everyone, like a generation."
