'Spider-Man' reboot news: 2017 film won't see an origin story, writers say

While another reboot for "Spider-Man" is still two years away, details about the 2017 film have started to leak from the crew.

Ever since it was announced, fans have expressed their excitement for the movie that once starred the controversial Andrew Garfield, and while many of the actor's fans are still lingering on his portrayal of the 2012 "Spidey," Garfield seems to be okay with the idea of surrendering the webs to Tom Holland.

Holland, 19, has since been putting himself in the shoes of his web-slinging character and has even posted videos and photos of himself practicing for filming.

Meanwhile, Garfield has had nothing but good things to say about the next Spider-Man. He said of Holland in an interview with ETC Canada during the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, "It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie 'The Impossible' and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor. And [he's] a dancer, so his body's the right [form]."

Aside from Garfield's praise for the young actor, more good news seems to come fans' way, as recent reports indicate that Uncle Ben won't have to die in the upcoming reboot, Ecumenical News says.

Writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley have revealed in a recent interview that the third reboot will portray Peter Parker's life as a kid and will not be looking back at an origin story or see the murder of the great Uncle Ben.

Daley said fans will finally let go of a Peter Parker that has always been the lonely man who lost his beloved uncle to a murder, adding that this time, "he [Parker] is truly a kid. And I think the stakes are increased in that his struggle through high school is very real and isn't just a sort of side note. It matters now."

Spider-Man reboot is slated to hit theaters sometime in 2017.
