'Spider-Man' Reboot News: Director Shares Details about Comic Books that Inspired Film
The upcoming reboot of "Spider-Man" has been receiving a lot of buzz since the design of Spider-Man's new costume was revealed.
Along with the reveal of Spider-Man's new costume, many speculations about the film have been made. One source stated that the film will have Miles Morales take on the role of Mary Jane Watson.
With that, it was reported that Jon Watts, the director of the film, was able to address the rumor. In an interview with Den of Geek, he did not directly answer the question pertaining to the rumor because he did not want to reveal a lot about the upcoming story.

At the same time, he also did not deny it. With that, there is still a possibility that the speculations could be correct.
Meanwhile, he did mention that the upcoming film will be a flashback story inspired by the "Ultimate Spider-Man." He said, "I really like what [Brian Michael] Bendis did. A lot. That felt like... that was Peter Parker back in high school. And, spending as much time with his high school problems as it did with his superhero problems, which I think is really a lot of fun."
In addition, he also mentioned other Spider-Man comics that he used to prepare for the upcoming film. The list included Sean McKeever's "Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane," which features Spider-Man as a teen.
When speaking of "Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane," Watts described its story as "the soap opera of Peter Parker in high school." It is similar to "Ultimate Spider-Man" because they both show Peter Parker in high school, along with relationship drama.
With that, it can be expected that the upcoming reboot will have Tom Holland's Spider-Man as a high-school student with super powers.
The upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot will premiere on July 17, 2018.
