'Spider-Man' Plot Spoilers: Tom Holland's Spidey to Meet Kraven The Hunter?
The revival project of Sony and Marvel's fan-favorite superhero Spider-Man said that standalone film will emulate a John Hughes coming-of-age teen comedy.
Marvel's head for production, Kevin Feige, confirmed that the Jon Watts-helmed movie will feature a villain that fans have never seen before on the big screen. These developments caused speculation concerning who will be Peter Parker's new big enemy.
Hollywood scooper Umberto Gonzalez said that the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will likely meet one of MCU's outstanding melee warriors, Kraven the Hunter. He based his theory on a source who "alerted" him of Karen Moy, Vice President of Creative Affairs for Sony, grabbing a copy of the "Kraven's Last Hunt" trade paperback on Amazon this week.
However, this isn't anything new for Moy. Rummaging through the leaked Sony emails on Wikileaks, Gonzalez revealed that she previously made book purchases for former Sony boss Amy Pascal.
"This can't be a coincidence. Why would the head of the story department buy a trade paperback about one of Spider-Man's greatest foes for anything OTHER than research purposes? It's safe to say Sony is looking into the possibility of Kraven as their bad guy," he said on Heroic Hollywood.
As for the character in question, Kraven the Hunter (also known as Sergei Kravinoff) is an infamous game hunter. The bare-handed villain believes that capturing and killing the Spider-Man would make him legendary hunter.
"Kraven's Last Hunt," first printed in 1987, features the epic final battle between the Wall Crawler and the Hunter. It was written by J.M. DeMatteis and pencilled by Mike Zeck.
The first outing of the Web-Slinger will first happen in Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as Tony Stark/Iron-Man and Steve Rogers/Captain America in 2016.
After that, Spider-Man will star in his own standalone movie July 28, 2017.
