'Splatoon 2' News, Update: New Weapon Squeezer Detailed; Game Producer Talks Weapon Exploring in Clam Blitz, Playable Octolings
For its latest addition to its artillery, "Splatoon 2" is getting a new weapon called the Squeezer.
This new weapon is a brand-new type of shooter that boasts multiple firing modes. As its name implies, it is easy to use the Squeezer to its full potential.
For a single high-power ink shot, "Splatoon 2" gamers should squeeze once. Hold down the trigger to fire continuously. As the official Tumblr account for the game suggests:
So basically, an enterprising young Inkling should press repeatedly when fighting opponents and hold down when inking turf. Wonderful! Completing this kit is the Splash Wall to protect your team, and the long-range wonder known as the Sting Ray.
A lot of weapons have been added to "Splatoon 2" since its initial release five months ago. In an interview with Eurogamer, game producer Hisashi Nogami encourages players to try them all for the benefits it could give them in the long run:
We would like players to try playing "Splatoon 2" with lots of different weapons instead of just one all the time. With the latest Ranked Battle mode, Clam Blitz, players will need to adopt new tactics and strategies compared to the other modes. Players might find unexpected success with weapons they haven't used before. I hope everyone will try out lots of new combinations to find which weapons work best for them on which stages.
With regard to what fans can expect in the single-player side of things, Nogami played coy, saying that he cannot provide information on what they may or may not do in the future. However, he did say that fans can learn about the lore of the game in the Hero Mode of "Splatoon 2."
When asked about the possibility of having playable Octolings in "Splatoon 2," which has been speculated within the community for a while now, Nogami simply said, "We cannot comment on speculations."
