St Louis Cardinals vs Boston Red Sox Live Stream: Watch World Series 2013 Online Game 2 MLB Playoffs (Fox TV Schedule)
St Louis Cardinals vs Boston Red Sox in Game 2 of the World Series 2013 takes place on Thursday night after the Red Sox sent a message out to the world last night claiming that they are the best MLB team in the world after destroying the Cardinals in Game 1. However, the World Series is a marathon and not a sprint, and there is still a lot more to do before they can confirm themselves as the number 1 team. The game will start at 8.07 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).
Fenway Park had a festival-like atmosphere on Thursday night for Game 1 as Boston fans witnessed their team completely crush St Louis. Following that 8-1 win for Boston, it will be interesting to see how the Cardinals respond tonight, and they will want to react to ensure they don't go 0-2 down in the series.
Despite the blowout in Game 1, it is vital that the St Louis players do not put their heads down, and are not demoralized. This is a best of seven series and the Red Sox still need to defeat them a further three times to claim the World Series. The Cardinals must respond tonight though, otherwise they will return to St Louis with a lot of pressure to win all three home games before things head back to Boston for the finale.
For Game 2, veteran Red Sox starter John Lackey will walk out to the mound, where as the Cardinals will look to get back into this series by sending out rookie pitcher Michael Wacha to the hill.
Lackey, the 6-foot-6 right-hander was amazing the last time he was on the mound, where he threw 6 2/3 shutout innings, and allowed his team to defeat Justin Verlander in the ALCS.
Through the regular season, Lackey was two whole earned runs better at home (2.47 ERA) than on the road (4.48 ERA). However, he has never faced the Cardinals, so we are entering a bit of an unknown about what to expect exactly.
We do know that Lackey has been a quality postseason performer in his career though, and boasts a 3.10 ERA in 90 postseason innings pitched. He is experienced and even played in Game 7 of the World Series in 2002 as a rookie.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox will not know what to expect from Wacha, with none of the Boston players ever facing him.
Wacha has said, "I want the ball in big situations. There's none bigger than the World Series. I'm excited about getting it and I think every guy on our team wants the ball in these kinds of situations."
