During the regular season both teams were very impressive as the Cardinals ended with 100 wins, while the Cubs had 97 wins before the post season.
St. Louis won the first game after shutting down the Cubs at Busch Stadium.
Stephen Piscotty scored in the bottom of the first inning after Matt Holliday singled for St. Louis.
The score stayed the same until the eighth inning when Tommy Pham blasted the ball 431 feet to deep left center for a home run to give them a 2-0 lead.
Not satisfied with the lead, the Cardinals extended the lead to 4-0 when Piscotty hit his own home run. It was a 406-foot hit that also saw Matt Carpenter score.
After being blanked in the first game, Chicago learned from their mistakes and recovered in the next game as they showed their concentration in game two.
However, the Cardinals opened the scoring in the first inning with Carpenter hitting a 422-foot home run deep in the center of the field.
But this time, the Cubs had a way to answer back as they put up five big points in the second inning to put the game impressively to their favour.
Austin Jackson scored after Jaime Garcia had a throwing error to tie the match at 1-1.
Miguel Montero then scored after a sacrifice by Addison Russell before Kyle Hendricks and Dexter Fowler scored later in the inning.
Making it 6-1, Anthony Rizzo scored after a ground out by Montero.
The match eventually ended 6-3 but the momentum is now on the Cubs as they play at home.
