Stacey Dash Joins Fox News, Faces Backlash From Critics

Former "Clueless" star Stacey Dash has a new role – contributor to the Fox News Channel. Ever since supporting Republican candidate Mitt Romney in 2012, Dash has used her celebrity status to give voice to the party's issues and will now join a network that will allow her even more freedom to do so.

"Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future. @mittromney @teamromney #mittromney #VOTE #voteromney," Dash tweeted.

She received an immense amount of backlash for voicing support for Romney instead of President Barack Obama. Many criticized her for "betraying" her race, but Dash did not let that stop her for campaigning for Romney and continually expressing her views on political issues. Now she will be joining the Fox Channel as a contributor, and the network could not be more pleased.

"Stacey is an engaging conversationalist whose distinctive viewpoints amongst her Hollywood peers have spawned national debates," Executive Vice President of Programming Bill Shine announced on Wednesday. "We're pleased to have her join FOX News."

In addition to starring in the cult classic "Clueless," Dash has appeared on "Single Ladies," "The Game" and an ABC version of "Clueless." She has continued to talk about the issues she feels strongest about and appeared on "The View" after her endorsement of Romney.

Of course, the announcement of Dash's decision to sign with Fox has also brought a great deal of backlash and controversy. Some feel that Dash is "conforming" to Fox's standards and that the network is using her as a token. It's a nasty argument that Dash seems to be rising above and not engaging in.

"Congratulations on fully transitioning into a white woman," one Twitter user posted to her page.

"I think I have 'token' and 'clueless' trending today! Yea @twitter!" Dash herself tweeted. "Seriously, thank you for all well wishes."

There's no word yet on when Dash will begin her work as a cultural commentator for the channel.
