The cast and crew of "Star Trek Beyond" honored the late Leonard Nimoy by supporting nine charities via the movie's Omaze campaign.
Zachary Quinto led the cast and crew of "Star Trek Beyond" in honoring late Spock actor, Leonard Nimoy by dedicating several weeks' worth of support to charities the veteran supported when he was alive.
Quinto, together with the rest of the cast, including Chris Pine (Captain James Kirk), Idris Elba, Karl Urban (Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy), Zoe Saldana (Lt. Nyota Uhura), Simon Pegg (Montgomery "Scotty" Scott), John Cho (Hikaru Sulu) and Anton Yelchin (Pavel Chekov) paid homage in a video, "Star Trek: To Boldly Go," as part of the Omaze campaign supporting nine charitable organizations.
Among the charities include Brave Beginnings, Camp Sunshine, Direct Relief, KidsCan, Heaven Homes, Koreatown Youth & Community Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Make a Wish, and Time is Precious.
Based on donations via the Omaze campaign, donors can choose from a slew of rewards that include digital campaign badges, a signed thank you card from the "Star Trek Beyond" cast and crew, t-shirts, original signed Star Trek concept art, authentic Spock ears, red Star Trek uniforms, Star Trek memorabilia, tickets to the advanced pre-screening of the movie, and a chance to appear in "Star Trek Beyond," which is scheduled to hit theaters on July 8, 2016.
Quinto, who took over the role of Spock for the two previous reboot films, "Star Trek" in 2009 and "Star Trek Into Darkness" in 2013, led the tribute to the late actor, remembering him as a "champion of the arts, and a true inspiration to so many."
Quinto went on to say that Nimoy's iconic portrayal of the Vulcan Spock influenced generations of scientists and artists, including himself and the cast of "Star Trek Beyond."
The video was one of several the cast and crew prepared for the Omaze campaign which began July 14 and is expected to end on Monday, September 1.
