'Star Trek: Beyond' release date news: Movie pushed back two weeks
"Star Trek" fans will be sad to know that the upcoming "Star Trek: Beyond" film will be delayed.
It was announced by Paramount Studios that the third installment of the series is expected to release two weeks later than intended. They did not provide an explanation for the delay, but it was reported that it could be caused by several IMAX venues.
Reports show that "Tarzan" will be in theaters on July 8, which means that IMAX venues will be busy with that film. With that, the movie was delayed, in order to ensure that it will be received by IMAX venues.

However, the new release date has the film competing with other films such as Warner Bros.' "King Arthur" and FOX's "Ice Age: Collision Course." The studio is hoping that fans of the trilogy will still bring success to the film.
The previous installments of the trilogy, "Star Trek" and "Star Trek Into Darkness," were directed by J.J. Abrams. The films received more than $385 and $467 million worldwide, respectively. The film will be produced by Skydance Productions and Bad Robot, along with Robert Orci and Abrams as producers. Under the direction of Justin Lin, the film will feature Chris Pine as the dashing Captain James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as the enigmatic Spock, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Zoe Zaldana as Uhura, and Anton Yelchin as Chekov. Idris Alba and Joe Taslim will also be joining the cast for the upcoming film.
With Lin as the new director, it was reported that several changes were made for certain characters. According to MTV, Quito spoke about Lin's directing style. He said that while Lin is more reserved in his directing style than Abrams, Lin still proves to be a powerful director. He said, "He knows exactly what he wants this movie to look like and that's really exciting."
Star Trek: Beyond will premiere on July 22, 2016.
