'Star Trek Online' Console Updates: 'Agents of Yesterday' Expansion Releases on Feb. 14

Feb. 14 is considered to be a sweet day for couples to enjoy each other's company, commemorating everything they've been through up to this special day. For single-console gamers, however, "Star Trek Online" ensures they won't be left out as they can simply turn on their consoles and delve into the franchise's past with the "Agents of Yesterday" expansion.

The said expansion was first brought to PC gamers on July 6, 2016. It recreates the story of the original series which was first introduced to audiences in the 60's era. This added content allows players to create new captains for the game, and the same experience is about to be brought to PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One players.

A lot of things are in store within the "Agents of Yesterday" expansion. Systems designer Matthew Campbell mentions that with the new content, console gamers are introduced to three new reputations, namely the Terran Task Force, Nukara Strikeforce, and the Temporal Defense Initiative. Each of them will provide players with a variety of items, weapons and a whole lot more.

The three reputations each have different objectives. The Terran Task Force is a joint effort among the Klingon Empire, Romulan Republic and the United Federation of Planets that hopes to keep the Terran Empire at bay. The Nukara Strikeforce pits captains against the Tholians who are threatening the peace in the Beta Quadrant. Lastly, the Temporal Defense Initiative puts players on the frontlines of defending the fabric of space and reality.

Aside from those, a new area called the Badlands Battlezone is made available to level 60 captains. This is a new stage that pits the players against the Terran Empire and their Mirror Universe cohorts. It will be a challenging battle as there are dangers posed by enemies as well as the terrain itself.

For players who wish to see the expansion in action and have a chat with the developers, a livestream will be held on Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
