'Star Wars Battlefront' DLC News: Free Content Dropped Before End Of January
"Star Wars" fans who are also playing the action shooter video game "Star Wars Battlefront" became extra excited when information leaked out through a video from EA Brazil that the next free downloadable content for the game would include a map of the legendary Tatooine planet. Developer DICE had earlier confirmed that free content is indeed coming but said that the Tatooine map was not going to be part of it.
According to an earlier report in the Express, the confirmation came directly from the game's light artist Oscar Carlen while answering questions from the game's fans. He said that what had gone out (the video) had to be taken down as it provide misleading information. While he said that the update was a "great patch," he also added that this month's update will not include a new map. He also said that he was "still polishing the new maps." These maps were part of either the paid DLC or free content that is coming to the game soon.
However, when the January update came, the Tattooine Survival map was updated and it now has some multiplayer modes available.
The January update, which is one of the game's free updates, is for the current generation consoles and PC. It had arrived before the end of the month.
According to the game's Online Community Manager, the update was set to be released alongside the rewards for Heroes' Holiday, which was a community event held last December. New outfits for the characters of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are also included in the update, says the patch notes released on the game's website. The costumes will apparently be based on the characters' original costumes in the "Star Wars" film franchise.
Aside from new content, new features are also being added to the game. These reportedly include Daily Challenges, Private Matches and Special Community Events, like Heroes' Holiday. As this new content comes free, players will get access regardless of whether they bought the Season Pass or not.
