'Star Wars: Episode 8' Plot News: Taiwanese Trailer Subtitles Hint at Link Between Rey and Snoke?
The production team of "Star Wars: Episode 8" has always kept the plot of the upcoming movie tightly under wraps, but a localization subtitle may have sprung a leak for one of the major reveals of the movie.
It's still a few long months until "Star Wars: Episode 8," and fans can hardly restrain themselves while waiting for the movie. It's such that one of the fans, perhaps on the tenth or so re-watch of the latest trailer, noticed something about the Taiwanese subtitles when applied to the teaser clip.
Reddit user SleepingAran noted the subtleties in the Taiwan subtitle for the latest trailer, and the whole subforum has been on the case since. The clip was edited in such a way that the viewers have no idea who the speakers are talking to, but in this case, the gender referred to in the subtitle could have provided enough clues.
"The moment when Snoke says 'when I found you,' the subtitle uses the feminine 'you' which is '妳' as opposed to the gender-neutral 'you' which is '你.' The former is the combination the word '女,' which means female and '尔' which means you; while the latter is gender neutral that can be used to indicates female and male, but mainly used for male," the fan noted, as quoted by Movie Pilot.
This is the part where Kylo Ren is shown looking out the window, while Snoke's voice spoke in the background. With this new interpretation, could this mean that Snoke is talking not to Ren, but to Rey instead?
In any case, it's another new theory in play for the new "Star Wars" movie, and it has some basis to it, as well. Snoke speaks about "raw, untamed power," not very far off from the type of talent Rey has shown when she displays her proficiency with the Force after just a single day of training in the first movie of the trilogy.
