'Star Wars Episode 8' Spoilers: Who Are Rey's Parents?

Even though the upcoming installment of the "Star Wars" saga is still more than a year away, more details about Rey were teased about the director of the film.

Since the release of the previous movie, "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" fans have been wondering about the newest lead of the franchise. Rey. Played by Daisy Ridley, the character proved to be a vital addition to the saga.

However, "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" did not reveal much about Rey. The film did hint that Rey had an interesting past and lineages, that will be explored in the episodes to come. According to The Hollywood Reporter, J.J. Abrams was able to share a hint that had fans believing that the upcoming film will delve deeper into Rey's past. He said, "Rey's parents are not in Episode VII. So I can't possibly say in this moment who they are. But I will say it is something that Rey thinks about, too."

With that, there have been many speculations on who Rey's father and mother is. Fans believe that Rey could have an direct connection to Anakin Skywalker, which is the reason why Rey proves to be a very powerful Jedi.
Meanwhile, there were other claims that Rey will actually be Luke Skywalker's daughter.

In the previous movie, Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, was seen only in the last few minutes of the movie. However, it was confirmed that he will be present in the upcoming installment of the saga. This had fans believing that he will be a way for Rey to learn more about her past. Ridley previously stated that she and Hamill have been working a lot together, since production for the film had already started.

With that, fans will have to wait until Dec. 2017 learn more Rey in "Star Wars Episode 8."
