'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' News: New Photo From Movie Features Captain Phasma

During Sunday's big night for the American Music Awards, fans saw a new scene from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" where Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) were seen in a longer shot.

The audience also hummed to the amazing a cappella version of the movie's theme music rendered by Pentatonix, one of this generation's amazing a cappella groups.

While the new scene was just a longer version of what fans already saw in trailers, with Rey, Finn, and BB-8 running from a huge fire, it still was a breath of fresh air, especially for those who have been watching the trailers over and over.

Those who aren't fans of the "Star Wars" franchise may not be amazed at all by the new shot revealed during the AMA's, but loyal fans know very well that a new shot revealing a Quad Jumper indicates something much deeper in the movie's plot, which will only make sense at somewhere in the movie.

What only saddened the "Star Wars" community is that no Luke Skywalker was seen — his appearance is something that fans have been requesting for.

The new scene also gives a green light for the stunning new still that Empire Magazine just revealed. In the new image, Captain Phasma is seen taking aim at an undisclosed foe. It is unclear who Phasma is faced with but the fire all around the scene only shows that there is a huge battle going on.

The outlet notes that Phasma's new still is an addition "cool point" though it is unknown how much screen time will be given for the character.

Gwendoline Christie will take on Captain Phasma's chrome-finished suit in the upcoming movie, the suit being a clear eye-catcher among many fans who have been loyal to the long-running franchise.

According to Wikia, J.J. Abrams said Phasma's royal name was inspired by Michael Kaplan's wardrobe team that worked on the 1979 horror film "Phantasm," wherein the antagonist in the movie was a "murderous silver sphere."

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits the big screens on Dec. 18.
