'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Plot News: TV Spot Shows New Generation of Heroes and Villains?
In the first TV spot released by Disney, it seems a new generation of fighters will be featured in the seventh movie in the "Star Wars" franchise.
The 30-seconder shows Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) seemingly taking the responsibility of fighting from Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford). In what could be a similar pattern of passing the torch, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) takes on the remnants of Darth Vader's efforts as another realm speaking of war rises from everything the past heroes and villains started.
It has yet to be revealed whose voice was behind the narration in the TV spot, but multiple outlets suggest that it may be that of Lupita Nyong'o's Maz Kanata. The voice says, "I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people," in a deep and serious tone. As the ad goes on, she says, "I see your eyes...I know your eyes."
Screen Rant says her statements imply that one or maybe a number of the new characters have a biological connection to an original hero or villain in the story. Earlier this year, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said "The Force Awakens" picks up on the Skywalker saga. With the new TV spot, it seems to connect with Kennedy's confirmation that someone will take over Skywalker's cause.
While the narrator speaks, scenes of Rey flash, which immediately led fans to believe that she may be, in a familial way, connected to Skywalker. The speculations are yet to be confirmed, but viewers are already too excited to stop guessing.
What's more interesting is the phrase that comes before the end of the clip: "Every generation has a story." The outlet further says another interesting twist is if the movie comes out with apparently none of the new characters being proven to be a descendant of Skywalker or Solo.
The guessing game continues and fans are looking forward to the youngsters' adventures in "Star Wars 7," and while Disney continues to keep the deepest secrets from viewers, it is only reasonable that fans dig on whatever they have. In this case, it's the TV spot.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits big screens on Dec. 18.
