According to J.J. Abrams, he explained details about Kylo Ren. He said, "The movie explains the origins of the mask and where it's from, but the design was meant to be a nod to the Vader mask. [Ren] is well aware of what's come before, and that's very much a part of the story of the film."

Another character featured in the trailer was Finn, who was played by John Boyega. He was seen with a blue lightsaber, which is known to belong to Skywalker. The trailer showed him unskilled with the weapon since he started off as a Stormtrooper. That aspect is something that truly excited fans of the franchise.

The lightsaber is expected to play an important role in the upcoming film. The trailer had Luke saying, "The Force is strong in my family. My father has it... I have it... My sister has it... You have that power too."

Meanwhile, there are speculations that the story will feature two major factions who are in conflict. The two factions are an oppressive military and a tyrannical government.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is expected to premiere in theaters by Dec. 18.
