'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' updates: Taking over all IMAX theaters
It was announced that Disney's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be featured in IMAX's large format in its first four weeks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Star Wars film is expected to premiere in the large-format IMAX screen around North America and other regions. J.J. Abrams' film will take over all of IMAX screens for a month, which is unfortunate for the competitor movies such as "In the Heart of the Sea" and "The Revenant."
The film is expected to take the record for the opening-weekend record, which "Jurassic World" currently is billed for. It is expected to open around 400 screens around North America and another 400 screens in foreign theaters. It will play in theater franchises such as Regal, AMC, and Dinemark, as well as museums and Imax theaters.

The CEO of IMAX Entertainment Greg Foster mentioned his excitement over the film, stating that it will definitely reach out to a big audience. Along with his comments, there are minimal information being released about the film. However, director J.J. Abrams shared some teasers with Empire magazine. He mentioned that fans will be able to experience Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which will feature "Girls" star Adam Driver. He explained that while the character has been seen carrying a red broadsword lightsaber in all black, Kylo Ren is, in fact, not a Sith. He explained that Kylo Ren works for the Supreme Leader Snoke, played by Andy Serkis.
Meanwhile, the rest of the cast was revealed during the D23 Expo. Set in the time period of the orginal trilogy, the characters will be portrayed by a stellar cast consisting of Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, and Ben Mendelsohn. However, the most interesting piece of information from the expo was the announcement of Peter Cushing's return to the film. Cushing died in 1994, so fans wonder how that will play in the upcoming film.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens premieres this December.
