'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' New Trailer, Plot News: Are Rey and Kylo Ren Walking the Wrong Paths All Along?
Fans wasted no time dissecting the recently released trailer for the highly anticipated sequel "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" in search for clues and hidden secrets.
Many believe that the clip was cut strategically to misdirect fans especially at the last moments in which Rey (Daisy Ridley) seemingly seeks the help of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to "find my place in all of this."
Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), whose true form was glimpsed in the trailer, also seems to have turned his attention to Rey in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," as he encourages her to "fulfill our destiny." He is seen apparently torturing her in the trailer. How she got there, Kylo Ren might have to do something with it.

Kylo Ren could be in on the scheme as he appeared willing to help Rey, only to turn her to the dark side with the help of Snoke.
Changing sides — this is seemingly the idea being presented here, especially since it is revealed that the scavenger from Jakku was revealed to have unimaginable "raw untamed" Force power that scared even Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
Forbes points out that the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" trailer hints that Kylo Ren could still be redeemed evident by his hesitation to blow up the ship in which his mother Leia (Carrie Fisher) is as much as Rey can go bad.
Although "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" suggested that Rey was supposed to be in the light while Kylo Ren sides with the dark, it is being hinted that they are meant to do the opposite. Either way, it is clear that "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will see the paths of these two characters intertwine.
Some fun sightings in the trailer include a nod to "Return of the Jedi." In that film, fans will remember that Luke's robotic hand was damaged and is still is in "The Last Jedi" (as seen in the screenshot above), suggesting that he has stopped attending to himself after the tragedy in which the Jedi academy was burned to the ground.
The trailer also shows a worried Leia, Finn (John Boyega) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) toe to toe, Poe (Oscar Isaac) with words of encouragement for the Resistance and two new creatures including the glass fox and the Porg, which is seen hanging out with Chewbacca.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" hits the cinemas December 15.
