Stephen Colbert on Maxim's Hot 100: What a 'Whoa-Man'

Maxim, a popular men's magazine, recently released its annual list of the world's most attractive women and for the first year ever, it was put up to a vote. That may explain how Stephen Colbert made the list.

"Democracy isn't always pretty" is the only way that Maxim editors could justify how Stephen Colbert managed to get ranked just below Miley Cyrus, coming in a respectable 69th place spot on their "2012 Hot 100" list.

Maxim suggested that in honor of the elections, that for 2012 they would be taking a democratic approach to their usual Hot 100 list.

"As we're reminded every four years, democracy is the cornerstone upon which our great land is built," the caption introducing the women in the magazine read. "That's why this year, for the first time in Hot 100 history, we let you, the readers of Maxim, weigh in on who should comprise the definitive list of the world's most beautiful women."

Colbert fans appeared to appreciate the gesture, and had a time of it while joking about what made Colbert such a handsome woman.

"You know how George Washington was a man perfect for his time? That is what Colbert is. Except in Stephen's time the perfect man is a woman too! Go figure," ZoeMB wrote on the Huffington Post blog.

Others joked that that Colbert was quite the "Whoa-man," and even the Huffington Post acknowledged Colbert for his feminine fight.

"In special recognition of his continued efforts to bring to light the issues, both real and imagined, that face women," the Huffington Post award read, "Stephen Colbert, with the approval of most of the women around the office, is conferred upon the title of 'Honorary Woman' with all the honors, privileges and nearly the same rights as men."
