King is the epitome of a tireless writer and has a very lengthy resume to show for it. The author has pushed 59 novels for publication, plus five non-fiction books, with seven of them under his pen name, Richard Bachman. That's just the sum of his published works, and he's sure to have dozens he has held back as well.

A big part of this is the earnings from all the movies that have been adapted from his books and other stories. At least 67 films have sprung up as a direct result of one of King's works, with the latest example being the box-office behemoth that is the "It" movie, according to the Sun.
His books that have been adapted for the big screen date back to the 1980's, including "Children of the Corn," "Cujo," and the highly-acclaimed Stanley Kubrick film "The Shining."
There's also "Carrie," "Misery," and "The Running Man," the last of which featured Arnold Schwarzenegger and a lot of Lycra. By the 1990's, even his lesser-known works like "Thinner" and "The Lawnmower Man" have made it to theaters worldwide.
All told, just the movies adapted from King's material have brought in more than $2 Billion in ticket sales, adjusted for inflation, as counted up by Fortune. That's not counting upcoming features for streaming services, like the upcoming "1922" for Netflix.
