Stephen King's 'Suffer the Little Children' To Be Adapted Into Film

Another of Stephen King's works is going to be adapted into film. Following the success of the most recent remake of his popular novel "IT" by Andy Muschietti, new reports suggest that his 1972 short story "Suffer the Little Children" will hit the big screen as well.

According to reports, the film adaptation of "Suffer the Little Children" is already in the works and will come at the heels of "IT," which is currently playing in theaters and has already raked in at least $274 million at the global box office as of writing.

"Suffer the Little Children" was first released in 1972 as one of the featured stories in Cavalier Magazine. It told the story of a teacher who observed some eerie traits in her pupils, as well as a conspiratorial clandestineness in the way they played together. There were also some inexplicable deaths in their town. The teacher, named Emily Sidley, eventually realized that her pupils were not what they seemed and that she needed to protect her town from evil. After being featured in Cavalier Magazine and becoming a hit, the story was published in King's "Nightmares & Dreamscapes" collection in 1993.
